Medium Resin Buddha

These beautifully majestic depictions of Buddha are expertly cast in deep, inky black resin from India. They display a wonderful level of complexity and detail and make for an excellent centrepiece.

There are several variations in the depiction of Buddha and each has its own significant meaning. These variations in hand gesture are known as ‘mudra.’ The mudra shown in this resin Buddha is known as the ‘vitarka’ or discussion mudra. The tips of the thumb and index finger are held together and the other fingers point upwards. This hand position is used when engaging in the teaching or debate of Buddhist ideas.
