Large Singing Bowl Set

£59.95

Description

A generous large singing bowl set with a rich, full sound that makes it well suited to meditation, sound therapy or simply as a statement piece. The set contains a machine-made brass singing bowl, a wooden striker (puja stick) and a simple cushion, all presented in an elegant handmade Himalayan lokta paper box printed with a brief history of the singing bowl, guidance on how to play and suggested uses.

Machine-made metal bowls are generally easier to play than traditional hand-beaten bowls. Their smooth, polished finish allows for a steadier striking motion, making them ideal for beginners. Hand-beaten bowls produce a more complex, overtone-rich sound, but require a little more technique to get the best from them.

  1. Rest the singing bowl in the palm of your hand. For smaller bowls, balance it on your fingertips.
  2. Hold the striker in the middle with all fingertips pointing downwards.
  3. Gently tap the striker against the side of the bowl to warm it up.
  4. With even pressure, rub the striker clockwise around the outside rim of the bowl using a full arm movement — like stirring a large pan.
  5. Keep the striker upright and maintain steady pressure. Let the sound build gradually as the bowl picks up the vibration.
